Things people ask us.

Straight answers about booking, the vans, driving and bringing the whole family. If yours is not here, ring us and ask a human.

Booking

How do I book?
Tap Check availability, pick your dates and your van, and the booking system takes it from there. We confirm everything by email, and if anything about your plan needs a human, ring us and we will sort it together.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes, a deposit holds your dates and the balance follows closer to the trip. The exact amounts and dates are confirmed at booking.
Is there a minimum hire?
Short breaks are what the vans are made for. Minimum nights vary by season, so check your dates in the booking system and you will see what is available.
What do I need to bring?
Honestly, not much. Bedding, kitchen kit, chairs, table and the awning are all packed before you arrive, and there is a welcome hamper waiting. Bring clothes, boots and the dog.

The vans

What is the difference between Enola and Fenyx?
They are sisters, not twins. Both are brand new VW campervans with pop-tops, four berths and full kitchens; Enola runs a blue kitchen and Fenyx a tan leather interior. Meet them properly on the fleet page.
How many people can sleep in the van?
Four: a double on the rock and roll bed downstairs and a double upstairs in the pop-top. Kids tend to claim upstairs before the kettle is on.
Are the vans automatic?
Yes, both are automatics. If you can drive a family car, you can drive one of these.
Can we cook properly?
A proper gas hob, a fridge, running water and a full kitchen kit. Off-grid heating keeps the van warm while dinner happens, whatever the weather is doing outside.
Is bedding included?
Included and made up nicely. Blackout blinds too, which matter more than anyone expects in a Scottish June.

Driving

What licence do I need?
A standard car licence covers it. The vans are no longer than a large estate car is tall, and they drive like a modern automatic because that is what they are.
How many drivers can be insured?
Up to four named drivers per hire, so long trips can share the wheel. Driver ages and licence history are checked at booking.
Can I take the van to Europe?
Yes. The vans are UK and EU ready, and Enola has already posed under the Eiffel Tower. Tell us when you book so the paperwork and cover are sorted before you sail.
Is there a mileage limit?
Fair use is generous and suits every route on this site, the NC500 included. The specifics are set out in the booking terms.
What is the insurance excess?
The excess amount and the deposit that covers it are confirmed at booking, before you pay anything.

Dogs and family

Can I bring the dog?
Please do. We are pet friendly and dog people ourselves; there is a reason the dog appears on most of this website.
Are the vans good for young children?
Very. Proper belted seats in the back, the pop-top upstairs feels like a den, and the whole holiday happens within arm’s reach. Bring the car seat you already trust.
